BSC childcare staff support north London Hospice's Big Fun Walk 2018

Childcare staff from Barnet and Southgate College supported North London Hospice’s Big Fun Walk on 6th May, and they have so far raised an amazing £900.00, with a target or reaching £1,000 for the Hospice.

The Big Fun Walk is a beautiful 8.5 mile charity walk from East Finchley to Westminster through London's most famous parks. Last year over 1,250 people registered and raised over £150,000 for North London Hospice. Suitable for all the family, it sees people walking in celebration of the Hospice, in memory of someone special, or simply to take in the breath-taking views whilst giving to a good cause.

Barnet and Southgate College's Christalla Tsattala said: "This is in memory of my beloved and treasured mother Mary Tsattala, aged 69, who lost her short battle to Pancreatic Cancer in February 2017 and for my beautiful 26 year old cousin Anastasia Kapadouka who also lost her battle to cancer in June 2017. I've chosen to raise money for North London Hospice as the staff provided us with compassionate care as well as emotional and physical care in our time of need. I would like to support them so they can continue to help others by continuing to provide high quality palliative and end of life care. Without NLH's support and invaluable help I am not sure how we would have coped during this terrible time."

Barnet and Southgate College Childcare Lecturer, Jo Murchison said: "In February of this year my nan, Pamela Murchison, sadly passed away. An inspirational woman and role model to me all of my life. The North London Hospice staff cared for my nan and made her as comfortable as possible during her final days, and offered my family a safe and calm environment to say our goodbyes. Therefore, I have chosen to raise money for the NLH as they provided such kind and caring support (and the odd extra chocolate dessert for me on my extended visits) I think that it is wonderful that the NLH staff can offer a sense of peace and security at times when families do not know where to turn and would like to see this continue."
