Gill Burbridge New Principal of Leyton Sixth Form College

Leyton Sixth Form College is delighted to announce the appointment of new principal Gill Burbridge, formerly the Deputy Principal at the College.

Prior to joining LSC, Gill was Assistant Vice Principal at Central Sussex College, where she taught a range of subjects including English Literature, Drama and Theatre Studies and Communication and Culture. Gill graduated from Sussex University with a first class honours in International Relations and started her teaching career in Higher Education, teaching on degree programmes at the University of Sussex and Bolton Institute of Higher Education. Gill has maintained her interest in academic writing, contributing to a number of books and journals. Even with senior management responsibility, Gill has remained an outstanding teacher at LSC and her students have achieved some the best results nationally.

Speaking after her appointment, Gill said "I am delighted to be the new Principal of such a highly achieving, vibrant and inclusive sixth form college. The values which underpin the college's mission statement are very important to me and I look forward to working with staff, students and governors, as well as with external partners and the local community, to ensure that we retain our unwavering focus on providing a high quality, enriching and empowering educational experience. My priority is to ensure that LSC plays an expanding role in the local community, first and foremost through the excellent education that we provide to the young people in and around East London."

Gill succeeds Kevin Watson, the previous principal of the last nine years, who led the college to three successive Ofsted 'Good' grades and strong academic outcomes for young people.
