On Thursday 6 September 2012, 3 Carshalton College tutors and 36 students spent the day at the FIA European Drag Racing Finals held at the Santa Pod Raceway.
The Santa Pod Raceway is the home of European Drag Racing and the FIA European Finals offers the most exciting event of the year with the fastest drag cars and bikes from across the continent competing to be the best. The Motor Vehicle students from level 1, 2 & 3 courses were taken to the event to see international racers and the British Championships classes compete to encourage their interest in the motor vehicle subject they have chosen to study and to gain further understanding into the output of motor work. The students also had the opportunity to go into the pits with Christopher Andrew, the British Top Fuel driver. Kevin Swain, Motor Vehicle Curriculum Manager said ?It was a great experience for the students to be taken to the raceway and see some of the best drag cars and bikes from all over and to get so close to all the action in the pit stop with Christopher Andrew. This has been a really positive start to the term for our students and we hope will make for a positive term.?
