The College in Hornchurch, Essex, has been invited to stage a mini-version of Inspiration - a highly acclaimed college production which received rave reviews when it was performed at the London Palladium.
Around 300 people across East London took part in the original show in March, showcasing their talents in music, dance, fashion and performance art. Cast members ranged from the age of six upwards and included performers with severe learning or physical difficulties. They included Havering College students plus young people from schools and organisations across Havering, Redbridge and Barking and Dagenham.
Now a group of between 20 and 30 performers from the original cast will be entertaining the crowds in the Olympic Park on Wednesday, September 5.
They will be performing excerpts from Inspiration on the Bandstand at the northern end of the Park from 2.30pm-4pm.
The College was awarded the London 2012 Inspire Mark for the Inspiration project and approached to stage a potential Olympic Park act by a LOCOG official who attended the London Palladium show.
Inspiration director/producer Peter Dayson, who lectures in Music at Havering College of Further and Higher Education, said: 'There is no doubt that Inspiration at the Palladium was a remarkable and truly inspiring event for the young people who took part and everyone who was in the auditorium.'
'We are delighted to be staging a mini-version of the show for a global audience in the Olympic Park. It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the young performers who are selected to go.'
