The Learning & Skills Council was launched in April 2001 to help people change their lives through learning. It is a non-departmental government body of the Department for Education and Skills, with a national office based in Coventry and 47 local Councils across key regions of England.
The Learning & Skills Council is responsible for the planning and funding of all post-16 education and training outside Higher Education in England. This includes Further Education colleges, work-based training for young people, workforce development, adult and community learning, information, advice and guidance for adults and education business links.
By the end of the decade, our vision is that adults and young people in this country will have the knowledge and productive skills to match the best in the world.
There are five local Learning & Skills Council offices in London, each working specifically with different boroughs in the region.
