Social LifePart 1Many people go to college under the misconception that they are there to party. While that is partly true, the main reason that people go to college is to get a qualification, so whilst this is a guide to making the most of your social life, don't forget that you won't be able to have fun for the whole three years if you get kicked out for doing no work after the first term. Don't treat college as a club 18-30 holiday or you won't last long enough to enjoy it to the full. So, whilst you should balance your fun time with your work time and study for the majority of the day, almost like a 9 to 5 job, (OK, how about a 12 - 3:30 job?), make sure that you make the most of the free time that you do have. You do not want to have finished your course, and think - what if? Never again will you have the opportunity to pretty much do what you like with your time, have so little responsibility and have the opportunity to do much of what you'd like to. Before too long, you'll be in a full-time job, with a family of your own and repayments, a mortgage and paying back your student loans. Don't be in the situation where you think - I wish I'd had a crack at that redhead, or grown a beard, or got my nipples pierced. The social life of students, as we all know, revolves around drinking, smoking, clubbing, partying, and… well, that's about it really. Oh yes, and sex. In other sections of the survival guides, you've got all the information on the health issues of excessive drinking, smoking and unprotected sex, and all the warnings on promiscuity, drugs and not sleeping enough, so consult those. |
