UniserveUK Guide to Health
Whilst at College, you are, without a doubt going to get ill. Whether it's because of excessive drinking and partying, unprotected sexual relations, or bad living conditions, you can resign yourself to the fact that you're going to, at some stage, want to hide in your duvet and have a legitimate excuse for missing lectures.

All students, with very few exceptions, will get Freshers 'Flu whilst at College. Whether in your first year, or when the new batch of Freshers arrive, you will find yourself, coughing, sneezing, being feverish and wanting to stay in bed . Our advice on coping with Freshers 'Flu is to 'phone your mother, and ask her for her recipe for Chicken and Vegetable Soup, and retire to bed for "Countdown" and "Neighbours" in the company of a hot water bottle and some Lucozade. And no - a lager a day doesn't keep the doctor away I'm afraid.

You will however encounter many more dangerous viruses and diseases whilst at College, so these pages are intended to warn you of some of the early symptoms so that you can spot them in yourself and others whilst they are still curable. For more detailed information, you can check out the National Union of Students website www.nusonline.com, which will give you some hard facts and figures.
