Harassment

Can be lewd jokes, sexual comments or touching, all which make you feel uncomfortable or degraded. Sexual assault and rape involves having sex or sexual activity of any kind forced upon you, when you've made it clear you do not welcome the advances.

What to do if you've been raped
First off It's hard when you're feeling dirty, upset, despairing, but you should go straight to a medical unit (perhaps within your college) - without bathing or changing your clothes. You may not feel like pressing charges or even reporting the rape at this stage, but you may later (and should) and early medical evidence can be vital.

Seek counselling and talk to a close friend or family member if possible.

Remember: it is not your fault. You must not feel guilty or ashamed in any way, or blame yourself - nothing you said, did, wore or the way you acted meant you wanted to be raped.

Victim support groups are experienced, sympathetic and useful... and they'll help you face whatever happens next.
