Insurance
Part 3
Travel Insurance
Basically insuring you for different eventualities on your travels. Make
sure your policy includes theft insurance, health and accident insurance,
extreme sports insurance (if you're going base-jumping off the Angel Falls),
repatriation package and backpack insurance if you're going hiking. Do
not travel without insurance - if you stuff gets nicked (including your
passport) you could find yourself in a world of trouble. Plus, if you
fall ill in a strange country, the insurance company will pay for your
hospital bills, and to fly you home if necessary.
Study Abroad Insurance
This is a sub-branch of travel insurance and really necessary if you're
going on a gap-year or exchange year as part of your degree. This will
cover you for all the normal stuff you get at home, but is vital, since
your car and possessions will not be covered if you are abroad without
this insurance.
Credit Card Insurance
If you are one of the unfortunate students to have been entrusted with
a credit card (too easy to run up a large bill), credit card insurance
will not only cover you for loss of the card or fraudulent use) but will
also pay off your bill if you become injured or unable to work. No faking
it though - they'll find out.
Mobile Phone Insurance
Many is the time we've all been drunk and left our phones somewhere we
shouldn't have, or we've accidentally trodden on the lovely little machine
after dropping it from a great height. Really a must. It'll mean that
any person who uses your phone after you've declared it stolen won't be
able to run up your bill and that a replacement will get sent out to you
if yours is buggered or lost.
