Two Digital Media Technology Students

City of Westminster College (CWC) - Digital Media Technology

Creative industries account for 7% of London's GDP, employ some 400,000 people - 13% of the capital's workforce - and are growing fast. These industries are among the most affected by developments in new technologies, with some industries - such as New Media - only coming into existence as a result of very recent changes in technology.

Two Digital Media Technology Students

There is a need for the workforce of the creative industries to learn new skills, on the latest equipment and keep up with the constantly evolving demands of employers. The City of Westminster College (CWC) CoVE in New Media Technology is one place in the capital that is addressing these demands. It has worked with industry partners to develop state-of-the-art facilities in media production and post production, spending over £500,000 in the last few years on updating and investing in facilities at CWC's Paddington Centre. These include a digital medialab, moving image studios, pre and post production studios and a pro tools editing suite.

The college worked closely with Sony when building their new moving image studios and pre and post production facilities, and continue to enjoy a close relationship with them.

The college offers students a range of BTech, National Diploma, Advanced Vocational Certificate of Education, GNVQ and City & Guilds courses in media, moving image and theatre studies, and offers the opportunity to learn the skills and crafts of this competitive industry on facilities only previously available to companies working at the cutting edge of the digital media industry.
