“The Skills Centre offers an excellent example of what can be achieved when the public and private sectors work together. We look forward to collaborating with our partners to ensure that the centre becomes a focal point for employer led vocational training”

Janis Kong - Executive Chairman BAA Heathrow

Georgina Ryan

One of the first students to graduate from the centre went straight into work with Crown House Technologies, one of the contractors on Terminal 5. She had previously worked in catering, hotels and retail, but wanted to try something different and get a trade. She studied a City and Guilds Certificate in Plumbing and now works on-site as a commercial plumber. She got the job after BAA contacted the college looking for applicants.

Georgina Ryan

"I enjoy working at Terminal 5 - we're installing all the main pipework for the water supply. I'm the only woman plumber there, but it's a great laugh - I enjoy the banter". Georgina Ryan
