Students across the college had their say in the Youth Voice Census 2021, an annual online survey run by Youth Employment UK, an independent, not for profit social enterprise founded in 2012 to tackle youth unemployment.
The census is an opportunity for young people across the UK to share their experiences of life, study, and work, building a picture of how young people are navigating the transition from education to employment. The data will be presented to some of the biggest policy and decision makers in the country to help influence policy that tackles youth unemployment.
Students aged 14-24 took part and the student parliament pulled out all the stops to ensure that as many students participated in the survey as possible, running stalls and visiting classes to spread the word.
The student parliament encouraged our students to participate to ensure that their voices are heard and to make a difference. This underscores the commitment of Newham College to always put the voices of our students first and we will continue to do so to ensure the best experience for our students and lay the foundations for a successful future.
