On Wednesday, 11th December 2024 St Charles held an exclusive event: our first Skills Partners Connect Event.
The event brought together over 40 different skills partners from across a range of industries and kicked off with a special Q&A hosted by our Associate Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Skills Lead, Daniel Camacho. Our guest panel for the Q&A included Leo Keay (Conservative Government Researcher), Craig Hanlon – Smith (Vice Principal Student Engagement at Morley College), Lauren Hebb (Recruitment & Events Officer Staffordshire University) and Lorna Capewell of Vocalize.
The vision for our CONNECT event was to create the perfect vehicle to celebrate the fantastic skills development experiences of our learners with our higher education and Industry partners who work with us to deliver them. The energy in the room was palpable, as our teaching staff had the opportunity to have high quality professional conversations about their current curriculum-based skills delivery and how this could be further augmented with ever closer collaboration with their industry and HE partners.
The feedback received by our skilled partners mirrored our hopes for the day with guests commenting on the:
– Engaging atmosphere and great content;
– The opportunity for staff to meet their skills partner; hearing from the college view on how important it is to marry curriculum and skills together, and meeting the staff members at St Charles;
– The opportunity to discuss what the challenges are and how we can best support students; ideation of workshops we can deliver with you;
– I thoroughly enjoyed the event and would like to work with the college and their students going forward;
– A great Network & Partnership opportunity for us as Skill based professionals
The event solidified for us the value and impact of partnering with industry professionals to not only develop opportunities and curriculum ideas as educators leading by example, but so that we can support our students with confidence and conviction so they can build their skills today, in order to strategically lead with them tomorrow.
